Good Conduct System

The Good Conduct System aims at helping students to develop their self-discipline and have good conduct. Certificates and awards will be given to those who have demonstrated good discipline and outstanding conduct performance. On the other hand, students will be punished for violating the school regulations. When they join the Self-improvement Scheme and are successful, the penalty points they have received will be cancelled.

Certificate of Good Discipline
The certificate of Good Discipline will be given to students of F.1 to F.6 who have a clean discipline record or only one record with 0 penalty point in the school term. It will be presented to students in January (1st term) and on the last school day (2nd term) by form teachers except that the F.6 students will be awarded the certificate for the whole year.

Outstanding Conduct Award
The Outstanding Conduct Award will be given to students of F.1 to F.6 who have outstanding conduct performance throughout the year and are nominated by form/subject teachers and supported by all subject teachers. The certificates will be presented to students by form teachers on the last school day.

Excellent Conduct Award
The Excellent Conduct Award will be given to students who have received the Outstanding Conduct Award for 2 consecutive years. The awards will be presented to students by the Principal in a morning assembly.

Superlative Conduct Award
The Superlative Conduct Award will be given to students who have received the Outstanding Conduct Award for 3 consecutive years. The awards will be presented to students on Speech Day.

Exemplary Conduct Award
The Exemplary Conduct Award will be given to students who have received the Outstanding Conduct Award for 4 consecutive years. The awards will be presented to students on Speech Day.

Supreme Conduct Award
The Supreme Conduct Award will be given to students who have received the Outstanding Conduct Award for 5 consecutive years. The awards will be presented to students on Speech Day.

Distinguished Conduct Award
The Distinguished Conduct Award will be given to students who have received the Outstanding Conduct Award for 6 consecutive years. The awards will be presented to students on Speech Day.

Conduct Improvement Award
The Conduct Improvement Award will be given to students of F.1 to F.6 in each term. The student in each class who has made the most outstanding improvement in his/her conduct behaviour will be selected by the Form teacher to receive the award. It will be presented to parents on the Parents’ Day (1st term) and to students on the last school day by form teachers (2nd term).

1. Penalty points are allocated according to the type of misbehaviour.
2. Penalty points are to be given to students who misbehave.
3. There is an individual record for each student in the eClass Discipline System.
When a student misbehaves, the teacher will
(i)correct the student by giving counseling and/or punishment
(ii)enter the information concerning the misbehaviour and the penalty points in the individual
record for that student on eClass.
(iii)Form teachers study the eClass discipline record at least once a week.
4. Action will be taken against students whose penalty points reach certain levels. They will receive warning letters, school detention, minor demerits and the serious warning letter. When a student receives the serious warning letter, he/she will be treated as a special case to be jointly handled by the form teacher, discipline and counselling teachers, and even social workers and the educational psychologist whenever necessary. If the student does not show improvement in his/her conduct, black marks will be given.

Self-improvement Scheme

The scheme aims at providing a chance for students to correct and improve themselves.

1. Time

When warning letters and letters for detention or minor demerits, black marks are issued, the students concerned will be given a chance to join the scheme. Students have to take the initiative to join the scheme though form teachers will encourage them. The deadline for submitting the application forms to form teachers is 5 school days after students have received the letters.

2. Scope and span

The students will be required to sign the reply slip promising to keep perfect discipline (i.e. observing all school rules and receiving no penalty points at all) within a period covering 5 school days.

3. Reward

If the students can fulfil their promises, 2 penalty points will be cancelled and their punishment will be suspended.

4. Continuity

If the students are successful in keeping good discipline and cancelling penalty points, they will be allowed to continue with the scheme.

5. Chances

Students will be given one chance only at each stage of punishment.

6. Buddy System

When students join the Self-improvement Scheme after receiving the 1st warning letter or more serious discipline letters under the Good Conduct System, they can apply for a buddy on voluntary basis to help and remind them to improve their conduct. Form teachers will then pair them up with buddies who are willing to help them in that period. Outstanding buddies will be awarded.

At the end of each term, certificates will be given to outstanding buddies nominated by their form teachers.

7. Conduct grades

When form teachers award conduct grades (to be printed on report cards), the final penalty points (i.e. after cancellation) will be used for reference.

8. The scheme will be suspended during examinations.
